Overview
The Volunteer Services Associate trains and monitors volunteers in the product recovery operation.
Essential Responsibilities
- Train volunteers to sort, evaluate and box donated product using established standards to ensure food safety.
- Keep product recovery work areas clean and organized, remove trash, recycle cardboard and promote overall cleanliness and inspection readiness.
- Assist with weekly cycle counts and data entry.
Additional Duties
- Monitor inventory levels and request necessary items as needed.
- Operate forklift and pallet jack to place or pick product.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent and one year of volunteer management experience
- Technical Proficiencies
Knowledge of computer programs; ability to enter orders into system.
Forklift certification and ability to safely operate an electric pallet jack.
- Communication Skills
Must have ability to speak, read and write English; able to respond to inquiries and complaints in a tactful and helpful manner.
- Other Competencies
Ability to train and monitor volunteers while working closely with them; ability to perform basic math, count and label product; pallet jack experience; forklift certification (required within 30 days of employment); ability to multi-task in a busy environment; compassion for our mission.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Works primarily in a warehouse environment
Frequent standing, walking, lifting and pulling up to 50 pounds
Requires work schedule flexibility with weekend and evening availability
