Job Summary

Reporting to the District Director of Digital Strategy, the Social Media Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive planning, content creation, and strategies for Tarrant County College (TCC) social media platforms. The Social Media Manager is also responsible for contributing to the development of District guidelines, policies, and training for digital strategy and social media.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements

  • Manages the District’s social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Threads, and YouTube for the District.
  • Strategizes ways to keep students engaged on digital platforms on a day-to-day basis; creates social media campaigns and contests to increase user engagement.
  • Provides input to leadership, Public Relations, and Marketing, on setting paid and organic social media strategy for the college with the primary goal of growing engagement with prospective students.
  • Creates original, authentic, high-quality content; assists with questions received through TCC’s social media platforms.
  • Tracks, reports, and responds to social media metrics and engagement.
  • Works with others across the District to ensure all social media presences are following best practices and TCC guidelines.
  • Builds and maintains a content calendar.
  • Remains current with trends in social media; makes recommendations for content strategy on existing channels and the creation of a District presence on new channels.
  • General Supervision and Management

  • Supervises professional staff with the responsibilities of hiring, training, evaluating, and mentoring.
  • Service Excellence

  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements.
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC).
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College.
  • Supervision

  • Works under the general supervision of the District Director of Digital Strategy.
  • Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

    Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and three (3) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or an equivalent combination of education and working experience.
  • One (1) year’s experience supervising (e.g., managing and evaluating the performance of others).
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year’s working experience in a higher education environment related to the Essential Performance Requirements.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines to aid in appropriate communications that are universally readable and accessible.
  • Knowledge of social media strategy and marketing.
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships.
  • Skilled in oral, electronic, and written communications including technical documentation.
  • Skilled using computerized applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, in a team, and with or without direction.
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables.
