What are the responsibilities and job description for the GENERAL OFFICE CLERK VI, (WARRANTS) - Sheriff's Office position at Tarrant County?
- Answers and directs all calls from deputies, the public, attorneys, bondsmen, and other agencies by phone, radio dispatch, and CAD (communication assistance device). Evaluates and researches requests, inquiries, and problems presented for resolution or referral. Coordinates Probation and Labor Detail pickups by radio and CAD messaging.
- Makes four runs daily to pick up warrants from various courts and deliver to Confinement/Bond Desk. Receives and issues all new warrants from criminal, civil, and mental health courts and detectives and distributes to various sections within the department for processing.
- Enters or cancels wanted persons on TCIC/NCIC/REGION computer system as required. Runs criminal history checks and sends teletype messages to various agencies regarding recalls, bond updates, and detainers. Validates warrants for corrections and updates in the computer systems as required by state and national agencies, which are cancelled if entries are invalid.
- Drafts and types various types of letters regarding warrants and sends attempts to arrest to various agencies.
- Checks court proceedings for in-custody's and recalls.
- Makes and maintains department files and records manually or by data entry. Conducts monthly audits and administrative special projects.
- Confirms all warrants on persons locally, nationally, and statewide and places detainers on persons arrested by state, federal, ICE, Border Patrol, and other agencies. Makes pickup arrangements with other agencies for extraditions. Obtains information on deceased persons with active warrants.
- Enters and cancels warrants in RMS (Records Management System).
- Assembles relevant data and complies statistics and information as directed. Maintains weekly and monthly reports.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years of general work experience. Clerical experience is preferred. Must obtain TLETS certification and TCIC/NCIC certification (Full and less than Full Access) within six (6) months of hire. Good communication skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and operate standard and automated office equipment.
If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment
at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks that will include a criminal background check and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, educational attainment, or additional State or Federal legal requirements.
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, climb, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift below the waist, lift between waist and shoulder, lift overhead, lift to the side/twist, reach overhead, see near, sit, squat, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and work alone and with others. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, evenings and nights.
There is exposure to household type cleaning agents (such as diluted bleach, alcohol based window cleaner, chlorine based cleanser); and occasional exposure to pesticides. There is occasional exposure to inmate control devices that emit pepper agents via aerosol spray, gel or foam. There is the potential of exposure to toxic smoke.
Salary : $20 - $22
