What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Educator/Outreach Worker I position at Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc?
Full time position. Will engage in targeted street and community outreach, both traditional (in person) and internet -based /virtual to at risk populations. Individual will conduct client recruitment and provide counseling and testing services, introduce Harm Reduction philosophy, and adhere to strict procedures of confidentiality, release of information and data security. Testing counselor/Health Educator will offer and provide participants referrals and linkages for all necessary services with the emphasis of providing PrEP/PEP treatment options. One-on-one counseling, and data entry skills are highly desirable. Participate in outreach efforts at community events and in-reach at TTC service sites. Maintains charting and documentation of services and referrals provided. Driving record must be in good standing. High School diploma or GED required. BA/BS preferred with 2-5 years customer service experience in related field; equivalent related experience may be substituted for degree. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Candidate should have a working knowledge of substance use disorder and HIV/STD/PrEP/PEP services. Certified HIV Testing counselor preferred, but not required. Must attain certification within 6 months. Experience working diverse populations, culturally competent and an interest in working with others at risk for or living with HIV.
