Controller - Hybrid

Hybrid with 3-4 days every other week onsite expected!

Our client is seeking a Controller to join our expanding Accounting and Finance team. This pivotal role will support our growth, offering the opportunity to engage in various technical accounting projects, develop the accounting team, and gain experience with SEC filings and audit partners within a public company context. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced, start-up environment, be driven by curiosity, and work collaboratively across departments. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. CPA certification and SEC filing experience are required. Hybrid work options are available for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ensure the accurate and timely closing of monthly, quarterly, and annual books and records in accordance with US GAAP.
• Prepare required SEC filings.
• Review monthly manufacturing cost accounting entries to ensure compliance with company accounting policies.
• Monitor inventory reports for accuracy, resolve variances, and perform variance, financial, and margin analysis.
• Lead, develop, and motivate the accounting team to maintain high levels of commitment and competence.
• Act as a strategic partner to senior executive leadership.
• Develop and establish annual financial objectives aligned with company strategy.
• Ensure a robust system of internal controls is in place and monitored; lead SOX compliance efforts as the company transitions to accelerated filer status.
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and third-party technical accounting consultants during audits.
• Perform ad hoc analyses and projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, CPA required
• 10 years of experience
• SEC reporting experience (10-Ks, 10-Qs, proxies, 8-Ks)
• ERP knowledge (SAP or similar system)
• Strong GAAP knowledge
• Manufacturing experience (cost accounting knowledge)
• Proven strong leadership skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with SAP
• Experience in a start-up environment
