Position Overview:
The Payroll Processor will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our workforce. This position will focus primarily on payroll operations, including processing weekly and semi-monthly payroll, managing certified payroll for state and federal prevailing wage projects, and handling other payroll-related functions. Additionally, this role will provide support for key accounting tasks, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), financial reporting, and general accounting functions. The Payroll Processor will also assist with cost analysis of employee benefits, oversee business license renewals, and support HR with payroll-related compliance updates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulations.
- Administer certified payroll for state and federal prevailing wage projects.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including tax filings, deductions, and employee earnings.
- Work closely with HR and Finance teams to manage payroll adjustments, benefits deductions, and bonus payments.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees.
- Assist with AR/AP functions, monthly financial reporting, and other accounting-related tasks.
- Conduct cost analyses of employee benefits and assess financial impacts.
- Obtain and renew annual business licenses and certifications.
- Coordinate with external payroll vendors and tax agencies to resolve payroll-related matters.
- Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state company.
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with payroll software such as ADP, UKG, SAP, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting preferred.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
