ESSA - minimum qualification requirements :

Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent AND

Possess either :

An Associates' (or higher) degree; OR

48 credit hours completed at an Institution of High Education; OR

Scored 464 or higher on the ParaPro Test

NAEYC - educational qualification requirements :

Possesses 12 college credits in certain early childhood / elementary education courses OR holds a CDA credential from the Council for Professional Recognition AND

Completed one of the following :

An Associates' (or higher) degree in early childhood education or certain related fields; OR

Possesses an Associates' (or higher) degree in another area AND has worked or 3 years in a NAEYC-Accredited program OR

Possess an Associates' degree (or higher degree) in another area AND has worked for 3 years in a non-NAEYC Accredited program AND had at least 30 contact hours of relevant training during the past three years.
