The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Under the general direction of a Senior Accountant, the Accountant Aide would be responsible for duties including, but not limited to the following: • Develop and maintain a basic understanding of accounting principles, theories, and techniques. • Post daily bank statements and recap reports for daily revenue reports.• Post daily Empire and Mainframe distribution reports to Tax Ledgers.• Assist the Senior Accountant with preparing monthly spreadsheets.• Assist the Senior Accountant with reconciling variances and follow up with the bank, Department staff, or OSC as required.• Assist the Senior Accountant with quarterly and annual GAAP reports.• Prepare various Accounting financial reports and respond to ad hoc requests.• Possess strong computer skills to navigate various PC systems including email, spreadsheets, databases, DTF systems and bank websites on the internet to report on daily and monthly revenues.• Possess strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
