Taylor & Francis have exciting opportunity for a Global Head of Portfolio to join the team. This role is responsible for the strategy, business planning, growth, direction and commercially effective management of our Plant, Animal, Agriculture & Food Science portfolio of subscription and open access journals together with the leadership of a team of Portfolio Managers.

What you will be doing:

• Leads team of Portfolio Managers, ensuring objectives are clear, relevant decision making is devolved, and team are empowered and incentivized to take responsibility and achieve goals
• Mentors and coaches own team of Portfolio Managers to enable them to find ways to maximize their individual portfolios
• Setting and driving strategies for growth in consultation with the Global Portfolio Director
• Fosters in-depth and close customer relationships with subject-specific societies and organizations to build profile and position Taylor & Francis Journals
• Personal responsibility for the P&L management of own program of portfolios,
• Oversight of timely and profitable contract renewals,
• Builds and maintains a thorough and topical knowledge of market need and competitor activity in own subject specialisms, particularly open access publishing
• Keeps abreast of global changes to the process of monetizing content, to ensure program remains relevant, commercially viable and in pace with market dynamics,
• Deputizes for Global Portfolio Director as required and supports the activities of the wider team where required.

What we are looking for:

• Excellent people management skills
• Excellent leadership skills
• Substantial experience managing journals in STM subjects
• Proven success in open access publishing
• In-depth knowledge of working with societies & other partner organizations
• Proven success in acquiring, managing, and publishing content
• Excellent commercial understanding of subscription & open access journals
• Experience of managing P&L accounts
• Experience in setting and implementing journal strategies
• A strong understanding of the publishing industry and market for research content generally including knowledge of research funders and their policies,

This role is based at our Philadelphia (PA) location, with balanced split between office and/or homebased. Due to overlapping working hours required with UK, this role is East Coast based.
