Job Description
The Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing a team of 1-3 crew members who provide high-end residential and commercial lawn maintenance services. They must balance workloads, prepare and secure tools and materials, assign tasks, and ensure that all jobs are completed with high quality and within a budgeted timeframe.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and train crew members to perform their duties effectively and efficiently
- Maintain and promote safe working conditions in the field
- Conduct and document weekly safety meetings with the crew
- Promote a professional image through clean, neat, and well-maintained service vehicles and trailers
- Perform pre-trip inspections on trucks and trailers, loading equipment, securing all tools, and using personal protective equipment correctly
- Develop a deep understanding of quality standards for lawn maintenance and landscaping projects to meet or exceed client and company expectations
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, including filling gas cans, washing equipment, and checking tire pressure
- Ensure proper safety equipment and personal protective equipment usage among crew members
- Unload or load equipment, clean out trucks and trailers, and wash dirty equipment
- Report damaged or broken equipment to the operations manager immediately
- Schedule and prioritize tasks to maximize resources and minimize completion time
- Meet budgeted hours/minute requirements for each job using SAP - Service Auto Pilot App
- Follow route sheet instructions for client properties, mark completed tasks, and note any exceptions
- Provide on-the-job training to crew members on safety practices, equipment use, and technique
- Review quality standards with new employees and coach team members' performance as needed
- Achieve satisfactory scores on quality checks performed by supervisors or quality managers
- Capture potential sales leads, documenting name, address, and telephone number, as well as services inquired about
- Identify upsell opportunities on maintenance properties and comment on SAP
- Report employee accidents and property damage to the supervisor immediately
