About the Role
The QA Technician interprets and implements quality assurance and food safety standards to ensure compliance with both regulatory bodies and Taylor Farm’s internal policies. Performs internal auditing of processes, policies and personnel to evaluate the effectiveness of the quality assurance programs and support improvement initiatives in all aspects of quality assurance and food safety. Performs product analysis using various laboratory equipment. Supports departmental goals and executes staffing and improvement initiatives to align with company objectives and KPI’s. The position will be a hybrid position with responsibilities in R&D/Commercialization. This position will be working to develop the formulation of the finished product and its transition from an R&D sized production to a mass industrial size production.
Key responsibilities include:
· Interprets and implements quality assurance standards to ensure quality and food safety. Reviews quality assurance standards, studies existing quality and food safety policies and procedures, and interviews QA Technicians, Team Leaders and Line Operatives to evaluate effectiveness of quality assurance program.
· Work with the Quality Assurance Team to maintain all relevant certifications (i.e. SQF) and to remain in good standing with all relevant regulatory bodies (i.e. USDA, FDA).
· Aids in the maintenance of the environmental monitoring program, ATP swabbing, and verification of sanitation practices.
· Develop, identify and continuously work to improve good commercialization practices.
· Performs routine chemical and physical analysis on finished product, including sensory evaluations.
· Maintain the QA Laboratory equipment up to date and troubleshoot as needed.
· Reviews and evaluates production records, applying quality assurance criteria.
· Support pre-requisite programs within the facility such as GMP’s, sanitation, maintenance, pest control, supplier approval, food defense, chemical control, customer complaints, etc.
· Performs routine internal audits and inspections of facilities, processes, policies and personnel.
· Assists the QA Manager with personnel related responsibilities by performing employee training, performance reviews, scheduling, disciplinary action (as required), and filling in as needed for absences.
· Evaluate and analyze raw materials.
· Work on product formulations to commercialize into large scale productions.
· Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a clinical/manufacturing within the food industry.
· Minimum of 2 years in R&D Test Kitchen environments, working with new and revised formulations, and product trials.
· Quality Assurance experience required.
· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Biological Sciences, is a plus
· Excellent communication skills-written, verbal and interpersonal
· Flexibility to work in AM and PM shift and weekends and overtime
· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; able to learn new programs
· Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, Food Safety and Food Labeling (FDA and USDA).
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with 80% percent of the time being in a production or laboratory setting.
· Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, wipe, reach, bend and safely lift to 35 lbs.
· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred) preferred.

- Tuesday-Saturday
- Night shift 8pm-4:30am
