This position is located at the Smyrna, TN facility.

We are looking for a 1st Shift( 8 am - 4:30 pm, flexible) and 2nd Shift(3 pm - 12 pm or 1 am flexible with 2nd shift Shift Diff available)

Overview:

As a Safety Coordinator you will oversee the safety function at the plant including, but not limited to, First Aid and first response to accidents and injuries, accident investigations, safety training, safety audits, plant walk throughs, serve as point of contact for security issues, assist line managers/supervisors in safety awareness issues and safety risk reduction measures.

Duties (Not inclusive):

1. Conduct plant safety audits, plant walk through, safety spot checks related to Taylor Farms PPE, Safety Policies and Procedures.

2. Assist in plant safety, health and environment programs as needed (may require additional training).

3. Conduct plant safety training when required (e.g., Alchemy).

4. Must be able to handle any type of accident that occurs at the facility and may also help with personal medical issues (may require additional training).

5. Working knowledge and understanding of recordable and non-recordable injuries, near-miss incidents, and solutions for prevention (may require additional training).

6. Maintain or become a First Aid, CPR, BBP and AED certified first responder.

7. Must work aligned as a team partner with HR and the Safety Department in Tennessee.

8. Must champion Safety by setting an example and communicating with all levels of employees.

9. Must keep all Safety related medical documents private and secured in a locked room or cabinet.

10. Will be primary contact for a local Safety Committee (TN Safety will provide further details).

11. Assist with plant safety, health, and workers compensation compliance; manage, review and email all accident and incident reports to Safety in Tennessee.

Employment Requirements:

• GED or equivalent, some college preferred
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen
• Reliable transportation required
• Flexible schedule (to include a Saturday Rotation )

Work Experience Requirements:

• Previous 2 years of safety, security, first aid or work-related field experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
• Bi-lingual English and/or Spanish, oral and written, communication skills preferred
• Ability to follow instructions
• Required to walk through the plant for minimum 50% of the day (consistent 35 degrees)
• Employee engagement and interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required, ability to send/receive emails, complete/edit/scan various reports.
• Basic- Intermediate working knowledge of safety, OSHA, GMP’s and environmental compliance standards in an industrial plant setting.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to moving mechanical parts, be around operating machines and equipment therefore a meticulous attention to safety is required. Any unsafe condition is required to be reported to management immediately.

The activities of this position will include long periods of exposure to temperatures of 35 degrees. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be trained to safely and effectively work around energy of various types, including moving mechanical parts and vibration. The position includes designated areas where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn. The typical PPE includes: Ear Protection, smocks, rubber foot slides, gloves, cut gloves, and aprons (additional PPE maybe required).

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, sitting, crouching, crawling, and climbing frequently. It also requires long periods of exposure to temperatures of 35 degrees. The employee may occasionally - frequently lift and/or move items over 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Employment Requirements:

Experience Requirements:

- Minimum GED or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in a safety-related role
- Previous experience in occupational health or related field is advantageous
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management software
