Responsibilities
- Ensure the company complies with federal, state, and local regulations governing utility operations (e.g., energy, water, telecommunications).
- Provide legal counsel on regulatory issues affecting utility operations, including rate filings, tariffs, and licensing.
- Represent the company in front of regulatory bodies, such as public utility commissions, in hearings, disputes, and rulemaking processes.
- Negotiate settlements and advocate for the company's position in regulatory proceedings, including rate cases and policy discussions.
- Track and analyze changes in legislation and regulations that may impact the company's operations or legal strategy.
- Identify potential legal and regulatory risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks in operational decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., finance, engineering, operations) to ensure legal compliance across various business units.
- Engage with government agencies and policymakers on issues related to utility regulations, energy policy, and other relevant topics.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree from ABA-accredited law school.
- Admitted or ability to become admitted to practice law in the State of Arizona.
- At least five (5) years of legal experience as a regulatory attorney or equivalent legal experience.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking and organizational skills required, proven self-starter. Please submit a cover letter with your application.
