Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as the Totten Nursery Lead. In this role, you will support the Totten Nursery Manager with daily operations at our geoduck nursery and clam float ensuring the health and growth of shellfish stock while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This position requires hands-on work with shellfish, equipment operation, and collaboration with team members to meet production goals. Reliable attendance is critical to the success of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment such as boats, forklifts, and tractors to support nursery operations.
- Ensure proper handling, sorting, and transferring of shellfish stock to meet production schedules.
- Oversee crew in safe nursery practices and efficient workflows.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., hatchery, farm crew) to ensure smooth shellfish production and transition.
- Keep track of nursery supplies and notify management of necessary restocking.
- Maintain accurate records of shellfish inventory, growth rates, survival rates and environmental conditions.
- Identify and address issues affecting shellfish health, water quality, and equipment functionality.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of nursery equipment and facilities.
- Comfortable operating a pressure washer.
- Adhere to all company safety and environmental regulations.
Work Conditions:

- Will be required to work at various work sites.

Qualifications:
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
- Valid drivers license and a clean driving record that qualifies to drive under company insurance plan.
- Valid WA State boaters card (or ability to obtain one).
- Must have the ability to swim
- The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to obtain forklift and tractor certifications
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 65 pounds repeatedly.
- Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
- Previous experience in aquaculture or shellfish farming is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Counting and some math calculations required
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and lead a team.
- Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers and others.
