Scope of Position
The National Account Director represents the hotel in the development of market segment(s) and new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with assigned accounts while consistently striving to maximize revenue. He/she will also be responsible for phone solicitations, e-mail blasts, site inspections, and face-to-face sales interactions.
Position Requirements
- Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment.
- Minimum of 7 years prior hotel sales experience and/or revenue operations.
- Interpersonal, diplomacy, business analysis skills.
- Excellent negotiation, group presentation skills, writing, speaking, and training skills.
- Strong leadership qualities, good motivator with excellent organizational and skills.
- JW Marriott and/or luxury experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Represent the hotel by soliciting, responding to, and negotiating with persons requiring large group accommodations with or without meeting space and/or on-site (hotel) catering, based upon market segment.
- Represent hotel in significant interactions dealing with guests relative to sales and operational questions.
- Negotiate contracts and rates for group accounts within the guidelines of our budgeted average rate.
- Initiate the preparation of proposals and/or contracts.
- Engage in outside sales activities, tradeshows, and industry events to discuss business opportunities and entertain guests in local and assigned markets.
- Conduct site inspections with potential guests.
- Attend weekly sales departmental meeting and other scheduled meetings to support business operations.
- Maintain in-depth account files, including files in CI-TY.
- Understand sales strategies and tactics of competitor hotels.
- Exhibit diplomacy, business analysis, negotiation, and proposal writing and presentation skills.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Education
- 4-year college degree from accredited university preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent group presentation, writing, speaking, and training skills.
- Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, if needed, including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
- Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Physical Requirements
- On a continuous basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen.
- Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding desk.
- Perform simple grasping and fine manipulation, use telephone and computer keyboard daily.
- Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
- Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
