POSITION: NBC Maintenance of Certification Application (2025-2026 Cycle)

 

LOCATION: TBD

 

JOB SUMMARY: The National Board’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process is designed based on best assessment practices and by teachers to ensure that National Board Certified teachers continue to grow professionally while maintaining a strong impact on student learning.

 

MOC is the pathway for NBCTs to keep their certification active.  Successfully meeting MOC requirements will extend an NBCTs certificate by five years from their current certificate’s expiration date.

 

Current NBCTs with a certificate that expires in December of 2025 or in December of 2026 are eligible to extend their certificate for five years through the MOC process.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Meets Maryland State Certification requirements.
  2. Currently hold National Board Certification that expires in December 2025 or in December of 2026.
  3. Agree to the following Commitments:
  • Commitment #1: Attend or view the information live or recorded session in April 7, 2025 regarding the NBC requirements and commitments.
  • Commitment #2: Apply and register online no later than the MSDE deadline (approximately:  January 15, 2026).
  • Commitment #3: Utilize the MSDE issued coupons to pay for the NBC component registration by the MSDE deadline (February 2026).

  1. Complete the two required MOC tasks toward recertification.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.

Application Elements:

  1. Sign, Notarize, Scan, and Upload the MSDE Memorandum of Understanding that will be emailed when released in May 2025. The application status will not indicate complete until this is completed.

State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.

 

House Bill 486 – Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Statement

 

Pursuant to Section 6-113.2 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland - House Bill 486 - Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention all applicants are required to report all former employers in which you may have had direct contact with minors. The applicant must submit the contact information of the current employer, all former school employers, and all former employers not school related. Applicants should also include contact information for organizations in which you have volunteered, coached, mentor, tutored or otherwise had direct contact with minors.
