POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Secondary Behavioral Interventionist
FLSA: Exempt Professional
REPORTS TO: Central Office
OVERVIEW: The Mental Health Professional will provide primary intervention to students who are identified as exhibiting behavioral difficulties which impede their social development and academic success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Counseling and/or Social Work preferred.
- Minimum three years experience working with children identified with behavioral issues, with two of the three years school based.
- Ability to work with high-risk children.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to train staff and parents on behavioral interventions.
- Knowledge of counseling and intervention strategies.
- Proficient computer/technology skills.
- Knowledge of the developmental stages of children.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide positive behavioral interventions, supports, and strategies to address behaviors.
- Apply behavioral play therapy techniques.
- Provide individual and group counseling skills.
- Serve as a behavioral model for children and adolescents.
- Engage families with services.
- Apply effective problem resolution.
- Work collaboratively with school, families and Central Office personnel to provide "best practices" to students.
- Maintain documentation and reports efficiently.
- Communicate with building administration and teachers.
