The Paint Prep Technician is responsible for preparing truck bodies for painting by ensuring the surfaces are clean, smooth, and ready for a flawless paint application. This includes sanding, masking and cleaning surfaces. The role ensures that all surfaces are free from imperfections to allow for a smooth and professional paint finish.

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation:

  • Examine surfaces to identify cracks, dents, or other imperfections.
  • Sand and smooth vehicle surfaces to remove imperfections.
  • Clean and degrease vehicle exteriors to remove contaminants that may affect the painting process.
  • Mask or tape off areas that do not require paint.

Equipment Use:

  • Operate tools such as pressure washer and spray guns.
  • Properly handle chemicals such as cleaning solvents and degreasers.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure that all surfaces are thoroughly prepared for the painting process.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure a smooth and uniform paint application.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with paint technicians, and quality inspectors to meet project deadlines.

Experience

  • Previous experience in automotive bodywork or manufacturing preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Ability to use various hand held and cleaning tools.
  • Understanding of metal surface prep techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in a manufacturing setting.
