Position Overview
The Fiber OSP Construction Inspector 1/2/3 inspects completed construction activities to ensure requirements of design, drawings, specifications, regulations, and acceptable industry practices have been met. This position delivers Quality Assurance of all Fiber Outside Plant (OSP) construction activities, providing confidence that requirements are consistently and accurately fulfilled. The OSP Construction Inspector will coordinate the various activities on the project and take detailed records of the installed fiber cable.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Conduct OSP aerial and underground construction inspection.
- Verify that all construction work strictly follows network maps/design.
- Understand and verify local construction methods, processes, and procedures have been implemented.
- Review permits and Right-Of-Way (ROW) considerations and requirements.
- Verify compliance with Client, NESC, and Industry Standards and Specifications.
- Review “As-Built” documentation for accuracy and consistency.
- Perform quality inspections utilizing established checklists and/or other quality-related documents and digital tools.
- Maintain records and prepare inspection reports.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong Aerial and Underground Construction Background with Placement of Fiber Optic Cable and related network components.
- Ability to read and understand architecture, design, maps, drawings, and diagrams for fiber construction.
- Moderate proficiency with use of computer and electronic equipment as part of a digital construction management project.
- Fiber, Fiber Network, and Outside Plant knowledge.
- History of adhering to safety procedures and practices.
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- High degree of focus and attention to detail/strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. and perform repetitive physical motions of bending, standing, climbing, and walking in construction zones.
- Valid US Driver’s License, clean driving record.
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
Experience/Skills
- 5 years of telecommunications experience required.
- Experience as an “OSP Construction Inspector” and a background with engineering is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
