Construction and Real Estate Accountant
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Construction and Real Estate Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Controller, this role will support accounting and financial reporting for both existing commercial and residential properties, as well as those under development. The ideal candidate will handle various accounting functions, including general ledger (G/L), accounts payable (A/P), and accounts receivable (A/R). This is a full-time, on-site position at QPI’s headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Accounting
- Manage job cost systems, including data entry, account reconciliation, and variance analysis.
- Review invoices to ensure proper coding and accuracy.
- Monitor project budgets and identify potential cost overruns.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for construction projects.
- Assist with project closeouts, including final invoicing and lien releases.
Real Estate Accounting
- Prepare journal entries for rent vacancies, property taxes, insurance, and other property-related expenses.
- Maintain accurate property records, including leases, insurance policies, and maintenance contracts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Prepare supporting documentation for audits.
- Handle other special projects as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of cost accounting experience required.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of real estate accounting software (Yardi Voyager experience required).
- Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
