The Construction and Real Estate Accountant position will report to the Controller and will be responsible for accounting and reporting support for existing commercial and residential properties as well as properties under development. The Construction and Real Estate Accountant will be involved in a broad variety of accounting functions including G/L, A/P, A/R.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Construction Accounting
- Management of job cost systems, including inputting data, reconciling accounts, and analyzing variances.
- -Review all invoices for accurate coding.
- -Monitor project budgets and identify potential cost overruns.
- -Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for construction projects.
- -Assist with project closeouts, including final invoicing and lien releases.
Real Estate Accounting
- Prepare journal entries for rent vacancies, property taxes, insurance, and other property-related expenses.
- Maintain accurate property records, including leases, insurance policies, and maintenance contracts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare monthly Bank Reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Prepare supporting documentation for audits.
- Other special projects as necessary.
Education/Experience:
- B.S. degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration desired.
- A minimum of 4-years experience with cost-accounting required.
Technical Experience:
Strong knowledge of real estate accounting software packages required.
Solid understanding of GAAP.
Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel.
-Experience with Yardi Voyager required.

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required.
-Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours week and flexibility to work additional time depending on company needs and workload.
