Position Summary/Objective The Loan Operations Lead is responsible for managing the Loan Operations and Processing Department by ensuring accurate and timely servicing of the Bank's loan portfolio, overseeing the production of loan documentation relating to the opening, servicing and closing of all loans. Ensuring loans and agreements comply with state and federal laws and regulations as well as verifying appropriate documentation is collected and uploaded in the system and Bank lending policies and procedures are followed.

Essential Functions

  • Reinforces superior customer service through his or her own example, making appropriate follow-throughs with all customers and employees involved.
  • Building and managing the Loan Operations and Processing Department (currently no direct reports) by ensuring accurate and timely servicing of the Bank's loan portfolio, overseeing the production of loan documentation relating to the opening, servicing and closing of all loans, and ensuring loans and agreements comply with state and federal laws, regulations and Bank lending policies and procedures.
  • Ensures department activities run smoothly and efficiently; provides leadership, training and supervision to others that may be involved with these processes; provides a high level of customer relations and service; will perform direct supervisory duties of future department staff, coordinates staff for coverage in all related areas of the department; and is required to be fully knowledgeable and skilled in all areas of servicing loans.
  • Monitors activity in loan documentation preparation and quality control, and ensures the organization of the department, coordinating available resources (e.g., staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results.
  • Reviews loan documentation for accuracy and completeness, and monitors compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations and the Bank’s lending policies and procedures.
  • Consistently apply superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development.
  • Assists Loan Officers and other Bank personnel on department business to coordinate inter and intra-departmental activities; resolves inquiries or issues relating to loan documentation preparation matters; and participates in various internal committees assigned by Senior Management.
  • Initially perform all related loan operations and processing functions or other department personnel duties as required.
  • Ensures accurate completion of related operational reports initiated by the Bank’s data processor along with internal reports.
  • Provides and receives information to discusses and/ resolves problems with internal company employees, borrowers, or outside legal counsel.
  • Service and maintain participations and ensure participating institutions are provided reports in accordance with agreements.
  • Service and maintain data on non-accrual and/or charged-off loans; makes loan grade changes as directed.
  • Balances lending-related general ledger accounts, and processes block entries and miscellaneous corrections.
  • Assures compliance with all Bank policies, procedures and processes, and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules and regulations, and adheres to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities that are specific to the position

Experience and Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years’ work-related experience consisting of an in-depth background in loan documentation preparation, lending department operations, loan servicing, bank and lending regulations and proven supervisory skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of agricultural, commercial, construction, real estate, commercial and consumer loan products and processing.
  • Familiar with bank and lending software applications to originate and service loan products.

Physical Requirements**

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • You must be able to use a computer and other office equipment (e.g., phone, printer).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through written correspondence.
  • Ability to concentrate and focus on tasks for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
