Communications Specialist (Variable Part-Time)
ESA seeks a highly motivated Communications Specialist with 3 years of experience in assisting specifically with the development and execution of social media content plans to join our Corporate Communications Team . This role requires excellent writing capabilities. Experience in Adobe InDesign is strongly preferred . Preference is given to candidates with additional experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Bridge, but not required. This is a variable part-time (VPT), temporary role working no more than 30 hours per week averaged over the quarter. We anticipate this temporary role will approximately span from February to August 2025. The opportunity for continued employment past August will be discussed / revisited then.
This role is primarily remote, but candidates must be within a commutable distance and able to work as needed from one of our ESA offices including Petaluma, Oakland, San Francisco, Sacramento, or Seattle for in-person training and collaboration.

Who You Are
- You have three (3) years of professional experience in marketing or communications, or a related position.
- You have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Experience and competency in Adobe InDesign is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Bridge are a plus, but not required.
- Experience with Agorapulse (or other social media management dashboard), Google Analytics, video editing software, and understanding of website content management systems is a plus, but not required.
- You practice a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in your work.
- You have excellent communication and public relations skills, including exceptional writing skills, oral presentation skills, and attentive listening skills, and are able to present complex information understandably to a broad external audience of clients, partners, and industry colleagues on behalf of the firm.
- You are an effective team member with the desire to support multifaceted staff and senior leadership.
- Expanding your knowledge and experience in a fast-paced, varied environment is a high priority for you. You have an interest in working in a multi-disciplinary environmental consulting company.

ESA has established multiple pay ranges tailored to the economic factors in the geographies in which ESA staff reside. For this position, the range is approximately as listed based on our anticipated hiring locations as noted in the above job details. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, skills, and the city in which the applicant lives.
