Hardware Lab Technician (Contract)

Responsibilities include hardware board bring-up, assembly, and testing of prototypes and test components. Participate in installing, maintaining, and repairing lab systems and equipment. Individuals must be organized and able to follow directions. A team player, yet able to work independently, with good communication skills, a positive and can-do attitude, and the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment.Location-wise, candidates should already reside within the SF / Bay Area, CA region as we promote a hybrid work model with a 2-3 days in-office requirement for synergy, collaboration, engagement, and camaraderie with peers and management.Duties and Responsibilities Assemble and bring up hardware, including test verification, debugging, and rework of boards.Carry out soldering tasks to install power relay, build and verify boards, cables, and adapters.Install, maintain, repair, calibrate, and upgrade lab equipment.Conduct physical inventory tracking.Install and configure test stations, devices under test, and support users.Debug and fix hardware testbed issues.Build cables, connectors, and perform simple board assembly.Write scripts in C, Python, or Shell to assist HW bring-up, including modifying and checking register status.Qualifications and Experience AS degree in Electronics or equivalent field is necessary.Minimum of 5 years related experience as a hardware technician.Knowledge of basic electronics, digital and analog theory is required.Experience with failure analysis and troubleshooting skills of simple circuitry to component level is required.Able to perform soldering rework, including fine pitch SMT components.Experienced with power and hand tools, including drills and wire crimping tools for pins, connectors, lugs, etc.Skilled in testing and debugging equipment, ability to use oscilloscopes, various meters, and power supplies.Familiar with Document Control and CAD tools for viewing schematics, BOMs, ECOs, etc.Able to work with Linux, Windows, and GSuite or Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat or similar back office tools.Familiarity with Linux command line and knowledge of Shell scripting.Ability to develop, review, and modify Python, C, and / or Shell scripts to enhance test coverage.Experience working in a lab environment.Occasional moves of hardware and equipment up to 30 lbs.Desired Skills and Experience Python or Bash script or other programming language.Basic TCP / IP networking knowledge.Some understanding of automotive internal architecture.Consider being a part of the Sonatus team!Other benefits Sonatus offers include complimentary lunches, snacks, and beverages when in the office.The posted salary range is a general guideline and represents a good faith estimate of what Sonatus could reasonably expect to pay for this position.
