The Position


Reporting Relationships

This position will report directly to the President of the TC/American. This position is responsible for manufacturing operations at three facilities. This role will be responsible for a current staff of 48 with 5 direct reports.


Basic Function

Reporting to the President, the operations manager will be responsible for the management of plants, staff, scheduling, quality, safety, and plant asset acquisition and disposal for the Company. This position will lead relationships with plant employees, plant managers, and vendors. This position will ensure plant assets are being used effectively, provide key inputs for business planning and budgeting, and lead the company’s operations moving forward.


Key Objectives

  • Serve as a leader in the organization and work with the President to drive results and continue to build upon the Company’s culture.
  • Build trust and credibility within the company’s management, owners, and board.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce policies and procedures to control and manage all of the Company’s plant and manufacturing resources.
  • Participate in the company's strategic planning efforts and in developing and implementing all strategic initiatives to achieve financial and operational company objectives.
  • Develop and report on key operations KPI’s.
  • Be a key contributor in the company's budgeting process, closely monitor operations results versus budget, and make necessary changes to ensure desired results.
  • Understand and support the Company’s commitment to Quality Policies.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of industry trends.


The Candidate

Education/Certifications

The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering or similar.


Professional Experience

This person must be a strong leader with a proven track record in driving results. The successful candidate will possess the ability to apply analytical, strategic and tactical thinking to the planning process and have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional organization, yielding desired results. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills, a commanding presence, demonstrated strong general business skills, including operations cost management, and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.


This person must have 15 years of experience in a direct plant manufacturing environment. In addition, this person must have 10 years of experience as a primary decision-maker in manufacturing operations. The candidate must have a history of proven leadership results, improving inventory turns, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will also have lean manufacturing experience.

  • Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses within the operations department, mentor staff, and make changes where necessary. Proven ability to lead, coach and develop departmental personnel.
  • Ability to identify and resolve manufacturing issues in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to provide leadership to staff regarding the company’s strategic plans and goals.
  • Well-versed in plant operations costs, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Proven ability to establish, maintain, and enforce corporate policies and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively deliver formal presentations.
  • Strong business acumen. This includes knowledge about how businesses work, business trends and the implications to their business, strong competitive knowledge, and how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.
  • Ability to manage change and use creative alternatives to solve problems.
  • Team player; able to fit the existing culture, yet helps to lead the organization to the next level.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and delegate tasks to staff.
  • Ability and willingness to work in hands-on situations, yet understand the high-level implications.
  • Be forward-looking and bring financial strategy and leadership to the organization.
