SUMMARY
The AOC Information & Technology Services (ITS) Department is seeking a contract resource for the role of Technology Support Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical computer assistance to users of computer-based software applications, and/or hardware, providing Technical Assistance to problem determination and resolution for computer hardware equipment and/or software application. May become service desk expert in one of the following areas. 1) Hardware support for computer peripherals, and infrastructure equipment, and/or 2) Core Business Software Support, and/or 3) External Software.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify trends in incidents.
- Cross trains other service techs.
- Submit solutions to supervisor for knowledgebase articles.
- Communicate with computer system users to provide training and/or assistance for software application programs.
- Give instructions to users on computer applications and the use of computer equipment.
- Provide assistance for users experiencing problems with computer application.
- Install and uninstall computer equipment at statewide computer sites.
- Test computer equipment to assure serviceability and dependability.
- Perform basic diagnostic testing on malfunctioning equipment.
- Utilize computer programs for problem determination.
- Keep records and statistics on all problems and assistance calls utilizing online information management software.
- Provide technical information to system support personnel, vendor representatives and/or computer operations staff to resolve problems relating to network or computer systems.
- Assist in system recovery during computer failures.
- Maintain computer system database.
- Availability for on-call rotation during non-business hours.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma with 2 years of job-related experience OR a minimum of Associate’s degree in Computer Science and 1 year of hands-on relevant experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky Driver’s License.
- Computer Technical Certification is a plus in the following MOS, MTA, MCP, A OR MCITP.
