Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Safety Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role involves managing and maintaining safety compliance across multiple departments, including drivers, mechanics, human resources, and regional operations. The position requires a hands-on approach to safety, ensuring compliance with all FMCSA, DOT, and company standards. You will play a key role in implementing, auditing, and improving safety programs to promote a culture of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Drug & Alcohol Program:
Administer the company’s DOT and forensic drug & alcohol testing programs, including SAP letters and compliance updates. Collaborate with vendors like HireRight to maintain regulatory compliance. - Hours of Service (HOS) Compliance:
Oversee the company’s electronic log system, conduct regular HOS audits, and track disciplinary actions related to violations. - MVR Management & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with MVR & Pull Notice Program. Manage driver records, including citations, license renewals, and medical certifications. - DOT File Compliance:
Maintain up-to-date and compliant driver qualification (DQ) files in accordance with FMCSA and company standards. Participate in BIT inspections and DOT Audits. - Driver Record and Training Maintenance:
Organize and maintain driver training and records, ensuring timely updates to electronic filing systems. - Temporary Driver File Compliance:
Monitor and maintain logs for temporary drivers, ensuring compliance with approval processes and documentation. - DataQ Management:
Assist in challenging and removing unfavorable DOT record items through the DataQ system. - Safety Program Leadership support:
Provide support to local terminals, safety and claims teams by assisting in planning driver tailgates, meet safety meetings, and ensure safety compliance activities are met. Assist in monitoring Samsara behavior events. Work with the Safety and Claims during accident/injury investigations. Participate in projects and initiatives to support the company’s vision for a World Class Safety Program.
Qualifications
- Strong administrative skills with a high attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other business software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold high business ethics.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and other safety regulations is preferred.
- Travel 10-15% for training, audit, inspections, etc.
- Experience using Tenstreet, Samsara, Idelic a plus.
Pay:
Starting at $70k annual salary
