This position supports the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) at Stennis Space Center, MS. The NSSC provides financial, management, procurement, HR, Enterprise Services, and Agency Business support for the various NASA centers and personnel. TCS provides our technology expertise to help NASA to provide efficient IT and other shared services to the various NASA users.
TCS is seeking a Senior-Level systems administrator who is able to apply advanced knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. The Systems Administrator role provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Tasks include management of IT systems, infrastructure, and any processes related to these systems. The SA will:
- Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations and monitoring and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices.
- Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
- Configure and manage Virtual Environments, Linux and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
- Design, build, configure and deploy Storage Are network (SAN) volumes to virtual and hardware systems.
- Manage Disaster Recovery Operations, including configuration and monitoring of backup policies, on-premise equipment, and Cloud Storage Services.
- Build server baselines compliant with NASA Cybersecurity policies and requirements.
- Support senior system administrators with project support. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all systems, hardware and virtual.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and network devices ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Responsible for Tier I/II troubleshooting of hardware, operating system and application incidents by researching, documenting, resolving and/or escalating incidents to external vendor support.
- Create technical drawings using Visio to include network, Virtual Infrastructure, and Application dependencies.
- Monitor system backups to ensure successful operations, perform file or system restorations as required.
- Deploy security configurations to ensure compliance to NASA cybersecurity policies.
- Support application developers with updates and configurations in Development and Test environments.
In general, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining hardware, operating systems, and virtual machines in a local area network (LAN) environment.
This is an on-site work position at NASAs NSSC facility at Stennis Space Center, MS.
Required Skills and Achievements
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to earn a position of Public Trust.
- Bachelors degree in an IT-related field and 6 years of relevant experience in an IT enterprise environment, OR 6 or more years experience working in an IT enterprise environment.
- Proficient with managing Windows and Linux servers and server applications, such as web services.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
