Air Conditioning Supervisor
Reports To : Southern California Service Manager
Supervises : AC Service Technicians
Fair Labor Standard Act Status : Non-Exempt
Location : Rancho Cucamonga
Position Overview :
The Air Conditioning Supervisor leads and manages a team of service technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems. The Air Conditioning Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the team, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with safety standards. The Supervisor has a strong technical background in HVAC systems, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Team Supervision and Leadership :
- Conduct consistent 1 : 1 meeting with team members.
- Assign tasks and monitor the progress of ongoing service calls, installations, and maintenance projects.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and offer training opportunities to enhance team skills and performance.
- Resolve escalated technical issues and customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Prepare and review quotes for customers.
- Perform job walks for installation and projects.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement policies and procedures for service technicians.
Quality Control and Technical Oversight :
Supervise, coordinate, and provide guidance to ensure that all service and installation work is completed to company and industry standards, and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Provide technical support to technicians on complex or challenging issues related to air conditioning systems, troubleshooting, and repairs.Review work orders and check technician performance to ensure accuracy and completeness of each job.Identify opportunities for workflow enhancements and improve team efficiency of work completed.TrainingAssist with onboarding and training new hires to ensure alignment with company standards and processes.Regularly work and train with team members to encourage growth and gain technical knowledge of equipment.Safety Management :
Promote a strong safety culture within the team by always enforcing adherence to safety guidelines and best practices.Conduct regular safety meetings and provide ongoing training on the proper handling of HVAC equipment, tools, and materials.Monitor and enforce compliance with safety policies, ensuring that technicians are using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work procedures.Customer Relations and Service Excellence :
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by overseeing the quality of service provided and ensuring highly responsive, professional communication with clients.Address and resolve customer complaints or service issues daily, ensuring prompt and effective solutions.Maintain a customer-centric approach and work to build long-term relationships with clients.Inventory and Equipment Management :
Oversee the inventory of tools, equipment, and parts used by the team, ensuring that technicians have access to the necessary resources to complete their work efficiently.Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.Order parts and materials as needed and track inventory levels to avoid shortages.Documentation and Reporting :
Ensure accurate completion of service reports, time sheets, and other relevant documentation.Submit reports on team performance, service calls, and any safety-related incidents.Assist in the development of schedules and work plans, ensuring that all appointments are properly allocated.Qualifications :
Education & Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent (GED); technical certification in HVAC or related field preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC service and installation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.Proven experience in managing a team of HVAC technicians and overseeing daily operations.Skills & Abilities :
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation, maintenance, and repair procedures.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues.Knowledge of safety regulations and practices, including OSHA standards related to HVAC work.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.Proficient in the use of HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment.Knowledge of city codes and state regulations.Certifications :
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) required.Additional certifications (e.g., NATE, HVAC Excellence) are a plus.Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and tools.Ability to work in various environments, including attics, basements, rooftops, and other confined spaces.Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.Working Conditions :
Job requires both indoor and outdoor work, often in varying weather conditions.May require occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency callouts based on service needs.About TDI REFRIGERATION :
