Job Description
The Data Scientist shall support the Navy Cyber Program effort, manage taskings and report directly to the government Project Lead for daily operations. Data scientist responsibilities will include working with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging Navy data to drive Navy cybersecurity capabilities. Scientist will mine and analyze data from the Navy enterprise to provide a mission-focused situational awareness capability to Navy cybersecurity end users. Scientist will assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques. Scientist will assist with developing data engineering pipelines. Scientist will develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets. Scientist will have strong software development experience and extensive experience with the Agile software methodology. Scientist will have experience working in a cloud environment including Azure. Scientist will have experience using Business Intelligence tools to include Tableau and / or Power BI. Scientist will have strong understanding of SQL and Splunk SPL-based analytics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop multiple analytics, visualizations, and dashboards in support of Navy Commander's Cyber Dashboard (NCCD)
- Serve as SME for all Navy cybersecurity data related topics (i.e. collection, transform, normalization, indexing, analytics, etc.)
- Support the Navy Cyber Program effort by performing data science-related duties.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage Navy data for enhancing Navy cybersecurity capabilities.
- Apply predictive modeling techniques to optimize end-user experiences and improve Navy cybersecurity capabilities
- Demonstrate strong software development skills, including command-line expertise
- Familiar with cloud environments, including Azure IL5 and IL6.
