Position: Executive Director of Student Academic Services

Position Summary: This position is responsible for developing and implementing effective instructional and assessment systems for the district. The Executive Director will manage and oversee curriculum, assessment, and student academic services for the district and will serve as the district assessment coordinator. The Executive Director will lead the adoption of district curriculum and provide oversight to ensure effective implementation of adopted curriculum including implementation of standards-aligned interim and formative assessments as well as state required assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Adoption and Implementation. Leads the development and implementation of the district’s academic planning and implementation including curriculum adoption and implementation and program evaluation and refinement. Ensures the district’s schools and classrooms provide consistent, rigorous, standards-aligned instruction across schools and grades.
- Assessment Systems. Serves as the district assessment coordinator, providing direction and oversight to the refinement and ongoing implementation of the district’s interim assessments and school-developed formative assessments and the systems and practices that support effective data-driven instruction. Ensures district compliance with required state assessments.
- District Leadership. Serves on the district cabinet. Engages with the Board of Education. Collects, interprets, analyzes, and shares student assessment and related academic data with internal and external stakeholders.
- Student Academic Services. Provides direction and oversight to the district differentiated instructional systems and services including but not limited to services and supports for English language learners, Native American students, and gifted and talented students. Coordinates and aligns academic services to support special education students and students on Section 504 accommodation plans.
- Online Learning. Provides direction and oversight to the district online learning coordinator to ensure implementation of effective online programming that incorporates research-based best practices, complies with Colorado Department of Education requirements, and ensures effective education and engagement for students engaged in online learning.
- Federal Programs. Provides direction and oversight to the district federal programs and school improvement efforts to ensure alignment of resources with district and school needs and improvement plans and to ensure district compliance with associated federal and state requirements.
- Teacher Development and Support. Provides direction and oversight to the district efforts to support and develop teachers including, but not limited to induction, new teacher coaching and mentoring, and ongoing professional development.
Candidate Profile
Education and Certification:
- Master’s degree requirred.
- Principal license strongly preferred
Experience and Skills:
- Experience in K-12 education in an instructional capacity. Principal experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Colorado academic standards, data and assessment, and curricular best practices required.
- Knowledge of special education, English language acquisition, and gifted and talented education preferred.
- Knowledge of PBIS and trauma-informed education preferred.
- Effective interpersonal, human relations and communication skills
- Supervisory and management experience
