Position Summary : The Director of Operational Support oversees the coordination of resources and management of all matters related to operations that impact the schools, students, and families served by the respective Superintendents Offices. The Director will work cross-functionally with the senior leadership of the Superintendent's Office, senior leadership from School Operations, School Readiness and Summer School Planning teams, Space Management Group (SMG), Division of School Facilities (DSF), School Construction Authority (SCA), Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT), Public School Athletic League (PSAL), Office of School Food (OSF), Office of Legal Services (OLS), and the Division of Early Childhood Education (DECE). The Director of Operational Support informs programs, policies, and process improvements related to the provision of operational support services to schools. Performs related work.
Reports to : Senior Director, Field Operations and Capital Planning
Direct Reports : Extended Use Specialist
Key Relationships : The Director of Operational Support works closely with the Superintendent team and the various Central offices that manage the operational policies and procedures around Operations, the School Construction Authority, and the Division of Early Childhood Education. The Director will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that equitable operational supports are provided to all schools.
Responsibilities
Oversight of the Provision of Operational Support Services
- Oversee the seamless delivery of quality operational support services for schools.
- Identify operations resources required to address issues, and coordinate delivery of this support.
- Encourage schools to develop or work with existing school wellness councils to monitor school nutrition and physical activity policies and practices. Support principals regarding PSAL opportunities.
- Foster partnerships between schools and the Office of School Food and Office of School Wellness to assist schools in participating in various available Federal school meal programs.
- Liaise with Central offices pertaining to summer school planning, instructional time policies, and school calendar changes : Space Management Group, Division of School Facilities, School Construction Authority, Office of Pupil Transportation, Office of School Food, Public School Athletic League, and the Division of Early Childhood Education.
- Collaborate with the Board of Elections to ensure that school operations can continue while polling activities take place during school days.
- Liaise between the Office of Legal Services, School Operations, and Superintendent staff.
