What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Director/Dean of Students position at TeachIowa?
Responsible for managing all school activities, student behavior, and administrative support for the secondary and elementary school programs.
Key Responsibilities
Activities Management:
- Organize and administer the district's school activities program
- Evaluate programs on an annual basis
- Collaborate with district administration for event and site management
- Develop and maintain the district activities calendar
- Schedule athletic and activity events
- Contract for home events officials, provide for their payment, safety and notify them prior to events
- Coordinate facility use and event logistics
- Manage activities program budget and equipment
- Oversee student eligibility
- Work with ECAB (Athletic Boosters), EFAB (Fine Arts Boosters) and any additional booster organizations to support ALL programs
- Provide for contest programs, program information, ticket sales and the proper handling of monies involved.
Student Management:
- Support/assist building principal(s) in day-to-day management of the building
- Supervise buildings in the absence of the principal
- Keeps principals aware of building level concerns and issues
- Supervise student attendance and behavior
- Conduct parent/family conferences on disciplinary matters
- Serve as a resource for staff on policies and procedures
- Work with teachers and students to resolve classroom and personal issues
- Maintain student behavior records
- Coordinate with counselors and social workers
- Supervise emergency drills and building operations
Additional Duties:
- Represent the School District at conferences and meetings
- Attend school board meetings upon request
- Provide leadership in program growth and evaluation
- Foster school-community relationships
