Job Summary:
The Head Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the high school girls' basketball program. This includes coaching, program development, athlete skill enhancement, and fostering a culture of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The coach will serve as a mentor to student-athletes, ensuring their development both on and off the court.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program that emphasizes fundamentals, teamwork, and competitive success.
Plan and conduct effective practice sessions to develop athletes' technical and tactical skills.
Promote good sportsmanship, academic excellence, and personal growth among student-athletes.
Supervise and mentor assistant coaches to maintain consistency within the program.
Oversee player development, including strength training, conditioning, and game strategies.
Develop and implement game plans, including scouting opponents and preparing the team for competition.
Establish and enforce team rules, expectations, and disciplinary procedures.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the community.
Assist student-athletes in the college recruitment process when applicable.
Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations and policies.
Organize fundraising efforts and manage the program budget in coordination with the athletic director.
Maintain the safety and upkeep of facilities and equipment.
Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and player development techniques.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
Commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to pass a background check and meet school district employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a head coach or assistant coach.
Experience in strength and conditioning training.
Knowledge of fundraising and booster club coordination.
Understanding of NCAA and NAIA recruitment processes.
Compensation:
Compensation is commensurate with experience and determined by the school district’s pay scale.
