What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Studies Teacher position at TeachIowa?
Cardinal Middle School is in search of a 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond. Cardinal is a Des Moines Register Top Workplace six years running and seven out of the last ten, with an 84% employee satisfaction rating (2024). We are home to the four-day school week and cultivate a culture people are knocking down the doors to be a part of.
Starting salary is $50,000 and is commensurate with experience and continuing education hours. Teacher contract length is 175 days. A $1,500 shortage area stipend is added on to salary and a one-time $5,000 signing bonus is paid in August prior to the first official payroll for the year. Coaching and supplemental contract opportunities are also available. Single insurance is paid by the district and all teachers qualify for IPERS retirement.
