What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant 1 position at Team Georgia Careers?
Under broad supervision, performs professional accounting duties in the area of federal grants accounting. Duties include but are not limited to: independently recording/reviewing financial transactions, calculating drawdowns monthly for grants by analyzing 49A and GG reports, requesting drawdowns in various Federal Payment systems, recording received funds in Peoplesoft AR module, monitoring grants and grant reporting end dates, completing Federal Financial Reports by due date, complete and keep track of all grant invoices not in payment systems and preparing manual journal entries, as needed.
Based on education and experience, the selectee will be hired into one of the below-mentioned job codes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
FIP020 – Accountant 1 - $42,120.00
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
FIP021 – Accountant 2 - $46,124.00
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university
AND
One (1) year of professional accounting experience.
OR
One (1) year of experience at the lower-level Accountant 1 (FIP020) or equivalent position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to applicants with:
· Ability to analyze and reconcile federal grants, accounting data and transactions accurately for compliance with state and federal guidelines
· Experience in preparing monthly, quarterly, and/or annual federal grants financial reports
· Reconciliation experience
· Experience in making sure entries is processed timely and accurately in the financial system
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel (Pivot tables) and TeamWorks (PeopleSoft Financials)
· Government accounting experience
