The Director of Finance is responsible for leading financial strategy, analysis, and planning efforts to support the company’s growth and operational success. The Director of Finance is also responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and risk mitigation, ensuring the financial health of the organization. Your contributions will directly influence the financial stability and scalability of Team SCG.
Bonus Potential: Annual performance bonus of up to 15% of base salary, depending on individual performance and the Company’s performance during the applicable year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Director of Finance, your primary responsibilities will be:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Support external and internal reporting requirements.
- General Ledger Oversight:
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Reconcile and review GL accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Month-End and Year-End Close:
- Lead the month-end and year-end processes to ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
- Review journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
- Ensure adherence to deadlines for closing activities.
- Profitability Analysis and Expense Reduction:
- Analyze P&L statements to identify cost-saving opportunities through resource optimization and operational efficiency improvements.
- Implement lean management practices to streamline processes and reduce unnecessary expenses.
- Treasury and Cash Flow Management:
- Improve cash flow by optimizing accounts receivable and payable processes.
- Monitor liquidity to ensure sufficient working capital for daily operations and future investments.
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, sales tax documentation, and financial reporting standards to avoid legal or financial penalties.
Additional duties and responsibilities as a Director of Finance:
- Technology and Financial Systems:
- Collaborate with VP of Operations on WMS implementation.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software.
- Support the other departments in the evaluation, implementation, and ongoing improvements of systems and software.
- Leverage technology for data analysis, reporting, and automation of financial processes.
- Evaluate financial tools and platforms to improve operational efficiency,
- Performance Metrics, KPIs, and Reporting:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to monitor the health of the business
- Create dashboards for real-time tracking of financial performance and operational efficiency, helping managers adjust strategies promptly.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Develop and manage a finance team consisting of a Finance Manager and two Finance Specialists, fostering their professional growth.
- Assess current distribution of work and optimize departmental structure to increase team bandwidth and morale.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance-related field is required. CPA or MBA a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management and analysis.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks required.
- Advanced skills Microsoft Excel.
- Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience designing and implementing business processes.
Work Environment and Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 9AM-5:30 PM
- Availability for nights and weekends as needed.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Travel up to 10% may be required.
