Title: Field House Monitor (as needed - AM/PM)
Department: Athletics
Building/Facility: Field House
Reports to: Athletic Director and/or Principal
Employment Status: Temporary based on annual contract. No benefits associated with this position.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Description: The Field House Monitor will be responsible for maintaining security of the field house and overseeing field house activities during designated work hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure safety of students, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Supervise all individuals that are in the field house during designated working hours.
- Offer assistance to any individuals using the facility.
- Sanitize, clean and organize all equipment and weights at the end of every shift.
- Pick up trash in all areas of the field house.
- Oversee security of the field house, ensuring that all doors are locked at the end of every shift.
- Report any issues or concerns to the Athletic Director.
- Assist any coaches or student athletes with help in using the facility as needed.
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents.
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation.
- Demonstrate sound judgement and emotional stability.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and work and communicate well with others.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of athletic equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of students, staff and district property.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance including individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.
Skills
- Skilled in active listening, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Skilled in speaking with others to convey information efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Satisfactory completion of BCI and FBI background check
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Regularly required to speak and hear.
- Required to have dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch.
- Occasionally asked to push, pull, lift or carry under 50 pounds.
- Occasional interaction among unruly children.
