School Summary: TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School (TECCA CMVS) is a full-time tuition-free virtual public school district that employs over 200 faculty and staff, and serve 3,000 students across grades K-12 across Massachusetts. TECCA opened for the 2014–15 school year with approval by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Location: Although there is a remote component to this position, the Reading Interventionist is required to work from the TECCA main office in East Walpole for a minimum of 2 days per week for the first 90 school days of employment.
The Reading Interventionist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
Position and Responsibilities:
The Elementary Reading Interventionist will work with elementary students to provide interventions, instruction, and enrichment in area of Reading and will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
-Works regularly with students whose greatest areas of need are in Reading
-Provides direct, targeted small group and one on one instruction as part of tiered Reading interventions that incorporates best practices and collaborates with grade level teachers to facilitate whole group lessons
-Works with teachers to provide enrichment opportunities and instruction to advanced students/students are performing above grade level in Reading
-Utilizes formative assessment data regularly to develop flexible/fluid student groupings based on skill level and to plan and execute small group and one on one lessons
-Actively monitors and communicates student progress with parents and grade level teachers, along with recommendations for continued growth
-Attends RTI meetings to consult and collaborate with teachers
-Will implement and monitor Supplemental Instructional Support Programs for targeted students to reinforce direct instruction component
-Participate, attend, and present at grade level and department meetings
-Work under the guidance of the Director of Assessment, Instruction and Professional Development to provide training and resources to teachers in literacy and fluency best practices as developmentally appropriate to grade level students
-Other Duties as assigned
