Network Architect – Firewall & Cloud Infrastructure Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Network Architect to serve as the primary point of contact with the State, working directly with the Chief Technology Officer to define, manage, and control project scope, timelines, and issue resolution. The role requires expertise in network security, firewall administration, cloud infrastructure, and advanced troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess business and application requirements for data and voice networks.
• Design, plan, and upgrade network installation projects.
• Troubleshoot network architecture and recommend enhancements.
• Optimize network installations to reduce operational costs.
• Manage network security, backup systems, version control, and firewall configurations.
• Provide weekly status reports covering project progress, risks, and corrective actions.

Required Skills & Expertise:

• Firewall Administration: Cisco ASA/Firepower, Palo Alto NGFW, IPS/IDS, NAT/PAT.
• Network Security: VPN administration, advanced troubleshooting, intrusion detection.
• Cloud Infrastructure: AWS, Azure.
• Networking Technologies: Routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, load balancers.
• Software-Defined Networking and network design best practices.
• Documentation & Reporting: Visio for network diagrams, project status updates.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading complex network projects with high-level stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills in multi-system troubleshooting and firewall configuration.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and drive efficient network operations.

This role requires a highly technical and strategic leader who can ensure secure, scalable, and cost-effective network solutions while maintaining clear communication with executive stakeholders.
