Position Overview
Seeking an experienced and dynamic Quality Assurance and Testing Lead to oversee and manage the quality assurance efforts for the State’s ERP Modernization Project, specifically focusing on the Workday implementation. The QA/Test Lead will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of a robust, reliable, and high-performing ERP system by leading testing strategy, execution, defect tracking, and quality reporting.
Scope of Work
1. Test Strategy and Planning
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Test Strategy and Test Plan aligned with project timelines and objectives.
- Define testing scope including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, UAT, and performance testing.
- Create detailed test cases, test scripts, and user scenarios based on business requirements.
- Ensure effective use of tools such as JIRA for test case and defect management.
2. Test Management
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end testing activities across multiple vendors and State agencies.
- Develop and maintain a testing schedule, ensuring timely execution and delivery.
- Manage testing resources and assign tasks to ensure efficient and effective test coverage.
3. Quality Assurance
- Implement and enforce QA processes, standards, and best practices throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of testing artifacts and deliverables to ensure quality.
- Ensure compliance with State and industry QA standards and frameworks.
4. Defect Management
- Define and manage a structured defect lifecycle process to triage and resolve issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with development teams, implementation vendors, and functional leads to ensure swift resolution of defects.
- Provide transparent status reporting of defects and test progress to key stakeholders.
5. Collaboration and Communication
- Act as a central point of contact for testing communication across vendors, project managers, and State agencies.
- Facilitate collaboration between QA/test teams and functional/business teams.
- Prepare and present QA status reports and quality metrics to project stakeholders and leadership.
6. Risk Management
- Identify testing-related risks and issues, assess their impact, and implement mitigation plans.
- Continuously monitor and communicate risk status to the project management team.
7. Continuous Improvement
- Assess and implement new testing tools, frameworks, and automation approaches where applicable.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and integration of past project insights.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a QA/Test Lead on ERP implementations, preferably Workday.
- Deep knowledge of testing methodologies, QA processes, and project lifecycle models (Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid).
- Strong experience with JIRA for test and defect management.
- Demonstrated success in managing multi-vendor QA coordination across large enterprise projects.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment involving government and third-party collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and risk management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday certification or prior Workday QA/Test experience.
- Familiarity with State or Public Sector ERP implementations.
- Experience with test automation tools or frameworks (optional but beneficial).
