Data Warehouse Architect - (IN PERSON INTERVIEW)

Primary Objective

Design, implement, and manage a Snowflake data warehouse and low/no-code ETL pipelines to support PTO’s mission of optimizing data storage, accessibility, and analytics capabilities.

Core Responsibilities1. Data Warehouse Design (Snowflake)

• Design secure, scalable, and cost-efficient Snowflake architecture.
• Implement schemas, data models, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.
• Performance tuning (query optimization, clustering, caching).

2. ETL Implementation (Low/No Code)

• Select & configure ETL tools (Matillion, Talend, Informatica, etc.).
• Build reliable, high-performing ETL pipelines with quality checks.
• Handle batch data migrations.

3. Analytics & Tool Integration

• Set up virtual desktops in Azure for tools like SPSS, R*, Python*.
• Integrate Power BI with Snowflake for real-time analytics.

4. Data Management & Integration

• Connect various sources (SQL Server, Oracle, flat files).
• Collaborate with DOR technical teams and document all solutions.
• Troubleshoot and maintain ETL/data issues.

5. Security & Compliance

• Implement SSO (Azure Entra ID) and MFA (Cisco Duo).
• Role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with NIST, IRS 1075, FAC 60GG-2, etc.

6. Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with business analysts, devs, and IT security teams.
• Provide training, documentation, and long-term support plans.
• Frequent status updates and milestone tracking with stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

• 10 years in data warehousing architecture & implementation.
• 5 years working with Snowflake environments.
• 3 years with low/no-code ETL tools (Matillion, Informatica, etc.).
• Strong SQL, data modeling, data governance, and integration experience.
• Collaboration across cross-functional teams, including non-tech stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Clear communicator with non-technical audiences.
• Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and documentation skills.
• Hybrid cloud (on-prem cloud) architecture experience.
• Proficiency in Office 365, blueprint/spec writing, Azure integration.

Education

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
