We're seeking a skilled IT professional to provide onsite technical support for a municipal government client. This role requires expertise in network administration, security infrastructure, and end-user assistance within a government setting. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary technical liaison between our MSP team and the client's staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite technical support at 5 municipal facilities including administrative offices, public safety buildings, and utility facilities
- Respond to end-user help desk tickets and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
- Assist with server and network administration, including firewalls, switches, and wireless access points
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery systems, performing regular backup tests
- Deploy and maintain PC/laptops, printers, and other end-user equipment
- Troubleshoot internet services, including internal and guest Wi-Fi connections
- Manage software licensing and maintain appropriate documentation
- Monitor hardware and software for errors, warnings, or compliance issues
- Support phone system administration for a cloud-hosted solution
- Coordinate with specialized software vendors (ERP, SCADA) to jointly resolve technical issues
- Provide first-level support for website, AV systems, IP locksets, and camera systems
- Assist with document requests including Open Records Requests
- Support law enforcement mobile data terminals (MDTs)
- Provide cyber security education and training to government employees
- Participate in quarterly review meetings and generate monthly performance reports
- Manage the secure disposal of old or surplus IT equipment
Qualifications
- 3 years experience in IT support, preferably in municipal or government environments
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration
- Experience with network administration, firewall configuration, and security protocols
- Familiarity with help desk ticketing systems and IT service management
- Experience supporting specialized municipal software (ERP systems, SCADA) preferred
- Ability to obtain security clearance for access to police facilities (must pass background check)
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of government staff
- Ability to work evenings or weekends occasionally for emergency support
Schedule & Work Environment
- Primary work hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Occasional after-hours support for emergency situations, council meetings, and planned events
- Must be available during snow events when city crews work 12-hour shifts
- Ability to travel between 5 municipal facilities located within city limits
Technical Skills
