What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Technician position at Teche Action Clinic?
Teche Action Clinic, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for our Maintenance position based in Franklin, Louisiana. This position is organization-wide and will require traveling to all TAC clinics when required.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Facility and Project Manager and is responsible for keeping the premises of Teche Action Clinics (T. A. C.) in a clean and orderly condition. Responsible for minor equipment and furniture repair and ensure all equipment is in safe operating condition. Storing of supplies, delivering of packages to various locations. Assist with office moves. Prepare and deliver parcels to post office and departments at the clinics.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete or address all clinic work orders in a timely manner. Written documentation required on all internally generated work orders.
- Replaces internal and external light bulbs, change AC filters at facilities.
- Inspects buildings for overall cleanliness, safety, and proper working order.
- Maintain outside and storage areas in a clean, neat, and orderly condition.
- Treat buildings for pest control, monthly and as needed.
- Ensure that buildings have proper lighting internally and externally.
- Perform routine lawn, garden and grounds keeping at all TAC properties.
- Perform minor repairs on mechanical equipment, electrical components, HVAC units, furniture, carpentry, appliances, faucets, toilets, doors, lawn equipment, and structural elements of the facilities.
- Perform pressure washing buildings and cleaning of parking lots on a routine basis.
- Ensures that adequate postage is available in postage machine.
- Justify equipment, supply needs and purchases. Follow all rules governing purchases of materials, supplies and labor.
- Regular maintenance of clinic vehicles, ensuring they are kept in good working condition, including weekly washing, scheduled oil change, tire rotation (preventative maintenance), inspections, etc.
- Apply preventative measures to the buildings to reduce the risk of future problems.
- Fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
- Painting the facilities when needed.
- Exhibit confidence by being informed and prepared and always act in a professional manner.
- Support the mission and vision of T.A.C. by assisting in clinic community activity and loyalty representing the clinic.
- Demonstrate ability to offer supportive assistance to co-workers with courteous behavior and appropriate language.
- Represent T.A.C. in a positive manner keeping in mind that actions reflect favorably or unfavorably upon the clinic.
- Follow T.A.C. and departmental policies and procedures which include but not limited to: Attendance and punctuality,
- Other duties may be assigned; perform related activities as delegated or required.
- Other duties may be assigned when our Emergency Operation Plan is activated.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Prior experience working within the healthcare/clinic environment preferred
Communication Ability:
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
Math Ability:
- Basic math skills.
Reasoning Ability:
- Skill in exercising decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
- Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action.
Computer Skills:
- Basic computer skills.
Professional Skills:
- Knowledgeable of small power tools and minor repairs required. Must be able to work independently and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES. REGISTRATIONS
- For operating company vehicles must have a valid driver’s license for the State of Louisiana; meet all insurance requirements and be cleared through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Copy of license or certificates.

Eligibility Requirements:
- All employees must meet eligibility standards in order to be considered for the position applying for. Internal applicants must be with be with the organization for at least one year, with no disciplinary actions on file. If you have not been with the organization for a year, approval from your direct supervisor will be needed.
