Staff Accountant
Reports To: Financial Operations Manager
Description: The Staff Accountant full-time role will be responsible for daily cash tracking, completing monthly closing procedures, preparing account reconciliations and analysis. The position requires solid knowledge of cash reconciliation, accounting and reporting principles, and internal controls.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform daily bank/cash reconciliation to provide accurate daily cash activity and balances to management.
· Work with the business to analyze cash inflows and outflows, ensuring liquidity cash needs are met to support daily operations.
· Work / coordinate with Parent Company and Home Office personnel on cash management and accounting assignments.
· Prepare periodic cash electronic funds transfer via wire or ACH.
· File ad hoc and quarterly state income tax payments online from the with direction of manager or Home Office tax department.
· Support successful month-end close process including journal entries, bank reconciliation and various balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
· Ensure that accounting records and financial statements are accurate and complete by analyzing transactions and the general ledger accounts. Recommend any needed reclassifications or adjustments, and work to resolve outstanding reconciling balances.
· Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial systems, controls, and reporting.
· Identify and help implement process improvements.
· Collaborate cross-functionally across the organization.
· Participate in other ad hoc projects, month-end close process and other accounting functions when required.
· Participate in and support the annual financial statement and 401K audit process.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
· Participates in special projects or other corporate initiatives as needed.
· Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
Work Experience
· 2 – 5 years accounting experience required.
· Previous cash accounting experience preferred.
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or advanced degree required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Strong time-management skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high regard for the details.
· Full understanding and experience with the fundamentals of bookkeeping and reconciliations
· Fast learner and inquisitive personality.
· Attention to detail, thoroughness, highly organized.
· Ability to multi-task, plan, prioritize and complete assignments within tight deadlines.
· Strong excel skills and ability to efficiently work with large volumes of data.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong ability to systematically think through the implications of problems to arrive at sound solutions.
· Knowledge of Oracle Financials and Workday preferred.
