What we are looking for:
Seeking a motivated, dependable and safe Diesel Test Technician to support the Product Engineering development and validation programs for a global provider of commercial-duty automatic transmissions in Apache Junction, AZ. Successful candidates will assist in modifying commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) and/or propulsion systems, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing CMV systems, and operating vehicles in support of testing.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Perform maintenance and modifications on CMVs
- Troubleshoot and repair CMV components and systems
- Fabricate or modify vehicle components and systems
- Execute Work Request instructions and document work performed
- Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing CMV system and component issues (mechanical and electrical)
- Basic fabrication, welding, and assembly skills
- Possession of a class A CDL or ability to obtain one, including a passenger (bus) endorsement
- Proficiency using a computer for documenting work and troubleshooting vehicle systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, technical documents, and service manuals
- Proficiency in oral & written business communication
- Ability to provide applicable tools for working on CMVs and systems
- Follow detailed instructions for vehicle and component preparation to begin testing. This may include but is not limited to full visual inspection of vehicle including tires, glass, body panels and interior. Checking all vehicle fluids, air pressure, and function of components.
- Collect data through various data acquisition systems and communicate in accordance with customer protocol
- Occasionally travel to various states to conduct specialized testing or transport vehicles. Must be comfortable with flying.

PREFERRED
- Fabrication skills in machining, welding and bending aluminum and steels. Skilled in use of a milling machine, lathe, shear, brake, and TIG welder.
- Ability to complete federal CMV DOT inspections
- Experience in repairing or fabricating and installing wiring harnesses
- Experience with electric or hybrid vehicle high voltage circuits
- Experience with Allison transmission troubleshooting and repair
SAFETY
- Able to drive safely in various conditions, follow policies and take ownership for working safely to avoid risks to self and others
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience with excellent driving record
- Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free. Alcohol consumption not permitted 8 hours prior to beginning of start of shift.
- Able to safely drive in heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions.
- May support training of others on performance and safe driving skills.
- Document near misses, make suggestions for reduction of risk exposure and communicate all damage to vehicle including scrapes, dings etc. Participate in and support corrective action plans as requested.
PHYSICAL
- Must be able to lift 60 lbs
- Able to sit for prolonged periods routinely exceeding two or more hours
