Our client, a global leader in the EPC industry, is looking for a Telecommunications Professional to lead the early conceptual definition of the telecommunications and IT scope for medium, large and Mega refining and petrochemical projects.
- Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Lead the early conceptual definition of the telecommunications and IT scope for medium, large, and Mega refining and petrochemical projects.
- Present to and Coordinate with Customer on Telecommunication Strategy and Regular Progress Updates
- Develop Telecommunication program strategy through all phases of the stage gate process
- Direct critical activities requiring knowledge and expertise concerning Telecommunications, IT, and cyber security
- Directs the efforts of third-party design engineering and construction contractors
- Develop conceptual scopes and write specifications and requirements for telecommunications/IT/cyber security projects
- Generate, review, and approve telecommunications/IT/cyber security packages of assigned projects
- Apply advanced engineering techniques
- Make decisions on engineering problems and methods
- Responsible for a measurable asset such as an assigned staff and budget.
- Prepare accurate and complete designs and calculations as required to meet project requirements.
- Conduct field investigations when needed; produce field reports with detailed sketches.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and assist engineers and/or designers to ensure effective quality product.
- Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards.
- Apply industry best practices to all telecommunications/IT/cyber security deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance to the design team.
- Provide employee performance feedback to discipline manager.
- Architect telecom networks and solutions, at multiple hierarchical levels
- Develop technical standards and guidance for company’s portfolio and applications.
- Participate in risk assessments and technical audits.
- Perform regular design reviews and develop test plans and procedures that leverage industry best practices.
- Engineer multi-vendor solutions that are fault resilient with integrations that span vendor platforms.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
EDUCATION: 4-year Bachelor’s degree
- The Telecommunications Engineer must have experience and working knowledge related to the design, configuration, installation, and testing in all or most of the following systems: Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Personnel Access Control Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems, Public Address/General Alarm systems (PA/GA), wired and wireless network systems, Telephony Systems, Digital Radio Systems, Marine Systems, Microwave Systems, and Cyber Security implementation methods.
- 10 years related work experience
- Total Minimum 10 years of experience in industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present design, plan, and to build relationship with customer
- Experience with Telecom systems detailed drawing production via a computer aided drawing package is a plus
- Experience developing specifications, system design, and component selection
- Industry experience in refining and petrochemical facilities
- Experience leading initiatives and managing suppliers
- Knowledge of Instrument calculation computer applications.
- Experience working with other disciplines and understanding their interface requirements.
- Experience with design and/or construction of plants desirable.
- Knowledge of NEC, IEC , ISA & IEEE standards, methods and practices.
- Management of virtualization technology
- Deployment and operation of servers, network devices, and/or storage arrays
- Architect telecom networks and solutions, at multiple hierarchical levels
- Documentation of network configurations, traffic formats and associated theory of operations
- Manage all levels of network equipment and configuring related protocol layers including high-capacity transport (e.g., DWDM), multi-layered traffic (IP, Ethernet/VLAN, MPLS) and edge routing/switching
- Network capture/recording, analysis and replay, including both LAN packets and broadband bitstreams
- Crafting of network traffic (protocol layers and content)
- Implementation and troubleshooting long-haul telecommunication links
