Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties for the Telecom Fiber Inspector role will provide services to Utilities Telecom Construction which includes, but is not limited to, enforcing safety, quality control, ensuring that all work performed adheres to engineering design drawings, and that all applicable specifications and Utilities Telecom construction standards are properly followed by the contractors. Telecom Fiber Inspector is responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship with engineers, contractors, subcontractors and the general public.
Requirements
Review Utilities issued documents for contractibility prior to start of construction and report/manage potential contractibility issues.
Be on site during all construction activities
Verify Contractor’s work is adequately performed and follows current Utility standards
Enforce all Utilities terms and conditions, including all legal, safety, environmental and other terms applicable to the work being performed
Check and verify all materials stored on and off site for payment as well as materials used in site construction against submittals. Check and verify the installation of materials and equipment. Track all material and Purchase orders
Maintain Utility required documents
Ensure that the jobsite remains clean at all times
Attend meetings, events, or training(s) as required by Utility
Complete as builts (as ‘Field Marks’ on prints) for all aerial and underground projects; providing all details requested by Utility that include, but are not limited to: Attachment types, attachment heights, clearances over/under major crossings and location of all installed underground facilities. Ensure Field Marked Prints (FMP) are sent to the appropriate Utility personnel within two weeks of project completion
Complete all safety & production forms, in full, daily and mail in this information to the appropriate Utility engineer or manager every Friday
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Must currently be eligible to work in the United States of America.
Must have a valid driver's license.
High School Graduate or GED, documentation required.
Must be familiar with OSHA Standard 1926 - Safety and Health Regulations for Construction, including Standard 1926 Subpart V - Power Transmission and Distribution
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Org Plus, Outlook, SharePoint and Internet/Intranet applications
Proficient in standard construction practices and familiar with safe operation of construction equipment and familiarity with Telecom Construction
OSHA 30 hour training
Must be able to demonstrate experience in working in group settings, social events and governmental agencies
Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with internal and external clients at all levels
Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and work in a fast-paced, changing environment
Able to travel for the majority of the work. Personnel will be required to maintain a continuous presence on assignments
Be of adequate physical condition to withstand outdoor work and wear all required PPE
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license
Must be able to pass a background check, MVR check and drug screening

Able to competently and professionally represent Utility at all times
Flexible and performs well in a high-energy, changing environment
Works with minimum supervision
