Community Manager

As we continue to support founders, we seek a Community Manager to lead the strategy and execution of our Techstars Universe online platform and strengthen engagement across our global network.
The Community Manager will lead the vision, strategy, and operations of Techstars Universe, our online global community connecting founders, mentors, partners, and investors. This individual will be responsible for enhancing engagement, optimizing user experiences, and driving participation to create shared value across our network. The ideal candidate is highly strategic, data-driven, and deeply passionate about fostering strong, collaborative startup ecosystems.
This role will involve cross-functional collaboration with program teams, marketing, product teams, and external stakeholders. Success in this role requires experience in community building, product strategy, engagement programs, and digital platform management.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Strategy & Engagement
- Partner with engineering and program teams to build Techstars Universe, a community platform that is actively being used by founders, mentors and investors.
- Foster a dynamic and inclusive online community that delivers value to founders, mentors, investors, and partners.
- Partner with Techstars program teams to aid in the adoption of Techstars Universe into accelerator operations and ensure active community participation.
- Engage with employees, mentors, founders, and partners to ensure they actively participate in discussions and stay connected through the platform.
- Ensure active, focused, and valuable communities by recruiting and mentoring community moderators.
Platform Operations & Management
- Own the vision, strategy, and execution of Techstars Universe, ensuring it aligns with company objectives.
- Take ownership of Techstars Universe in its early beta phase, with much of the platform still to be built, requiring a hands-on approach to strategy, execution, and iterative development.
- Identify significant opportunities to enhance the community platform, driving product vision, strategies, and roadmaps in collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring the platform remains a go-to resource for the startup community.
- Develop and maintain community guidelines and policies to foster a healthy, inclusive, and productive environment.
- Manage administrative aspects of the platform, working with engineering teams and vendors to implement new features and optimize performance.
- Incorporate data, research, and market analysis to inform community strategies and ensure the platform evolves to meet user needs.
- Track KPIs and data insights to continuously improve community engagement and platform effectiveness and present updates and recommendations to leadership teams.
Program Development
- Oversee engagement programs such as live discussions, and networking opportunities to encourage member participation in partnership with the Brand & Communications team.
- Work with the Brand & Communications teams to create compelling campaigns that increase community awareness and attract new users.
- Develop content initiatives, such as educational resources, mentorship programs, and thought leadership, to support community growth in partnership with Accelerator & Startup Community teams
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3 years of experience in community management, engagement strategy, or product-led community development.
- Proven track record of scaling digital communities and increasing member participation.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Experience working with community platforms (e.g., Circle, BetterMode) and CRM tools to optimize engagement.
- Familiarity with SaaS tools and platforms used for community management, event operations, or internal team collaboration.
- Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making skills to track and enhance community success.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience working cross-functionally.
- Passion for technology, startups, venture capital, and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Compensation: $115,000 - $135,000 with 10% bonus & benefits
