The seasonal Environmental Technician will collect field samples and data, ensuring compliance with regulations and permits with suitable technology.
Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on site, with 2 weeks off site
Reporting to the Environmental Technical Supervisor
Responsibilities :
- Coordinate the collection, recording and processing of environmental samples and measurements to fulfill defined environmental monitoring requirements
- Prepare and follow a schedule and set of procedures, which will ensure the shipment of samples to appropriate laboratories within the required time periods
- Accurately label and handle samples to maintain data integrity and avoid test result interference.
- Record field notes, documents, adhoc reports for regulatory, legal, permitting, compliance purposes using software
- Participate in data collection that is primarily outside and often requires travel by vehicle, helicopter, small aircraft, foot, boat or snow-machine and ensures work is completed safely while in an Arctic environment
- Demonstrate understanding of environmental risks, align with safety policies, ensure daily workplace inspections to identify and correct hazards
- Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and instructs coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required
- Other related duties as assigned
